Would You Rather Be Called Beautiful, Pretty or Sexy?

For any mother who has heard her child say, “You’re beautiful, Momma,” those words can become the highlight of her day.

Beautiful is a compliment with depth. To me, it should describe more than appearance. It should include a person’s aura—their actions, their spirit, and the energy they carry into a room.

Beauty is universal—not because beauty looks the same on everyone, but because anyone can possess it. It is not limited by weight, shape, size, skin tone, scars, height, or any other exterior difference. To me, a person’s beauty is revealed not only through appearance but through how they love others, how they love themselves, and the spirit they carry through life.

Beauty has no single face, body, or form. A woman may not possess obvious sex appeal and can still be the most beautiful woman in the room.

Our bodies can also be described as beautiful, regardless of their shape, size, skin, or scars. Bodies are beautiful because they are the vessels we were given to travel through life in. There is beauty in the purpose of a body that carries a soul. And perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I believe even a body that has been mistreated never loses its beauty.

Pretty and sexy are more immediate, reactive descriptions. They, too, come in every weight, shape, and size.

You can spot someone from across the room and decide she is pretty because of her high cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes, or that dimple in her left cheek that appears every time she smiles.

You may find someone incredibly pretty, only to discover later that she isn’t beautiful on the inside. A pretty face can still belong to someone who does ugly things. That certainly doesn’t apply to every pretty woman. I’m not placing these descriptions into strict categories; I’m simply exploring how different they truly are. Of the three, “pretty” may be the word we use most casually.

Sexy.

Now, sexy is what I do to you.

It’s lust. When you find someone sexy, you can become aroused without knowing anything about that person. The mere sound of her whisper can command his attention. His facial structure and beard can leave her momentarily speechless.

No words exchanged. Just looks. Just eyes. Just body language.

It’s all about the reaction.

You may find yourself drawn to a type of man you never expected simply because his confidence is sexy—the way he commands a room. Or perhaps it’s the sway in her hips when she rounds the corner of the office, the street, or the hall.

Some men fight not to look. Some women simply look.

That’s sexy.

Sexy can come from her laugh. If her giggle makes your body respond before your mind catches up—that’s sexy.

Then there’s the sapiosexual. For them, attraction begins in the mind. Intelligence, wit, and conversation create the spark before appearance ever gets a chance. Sometimes, the sexiest thing a person can do is make you think.

Many women know when they are being admired as beautiful, noticed as pretty, or desired as sexy. But which one do we secretly want to hear?

So, if you ask me, “Madam, would you rather be called beautiful, pretty, or sexy?”

I’d rather be known as a very pretty, beautiful person who is sexy as hell!

Mwah,
Madam
